Woody Harrelson shared a story about attempting to change a well-known scene in “No Country For Old Men.”
During an interview, Woody talked about how he wanted to tweak a specific part of the movie. He thought the scene could be improved with some adjustments. However, his suggestions were not accepted by the directors, Joel and Ethan Coen. They were very particular about sticking to the original script.
Interestingly, Woody believed his changes would make the scene more impactful. He felt that altering the dialogue and actions slightly could add more depth to his character. But despite his enthusiasm, the Coen brothers were firm in their decision to keep things as they were.
I think it’s fascinating how actors sometimes see their characters differently than directors do.
In the end, Woody respected their choice and performed the scene as written. He admitted that even though he was initially disappointed, he understood the importance of following the vision of the filmmakers.
