As the world gets ready to bid farewell to the old DCEU with the release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, news about the new DCU continues to emerge. Superman: Legacy now has an official logline and filming window. Filming is set to start in March, with the movie’s storyline focusing on Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent.
The cast of Superman: Legacy is expanding, as Skyler Gisondo and Sara Sampaio join the roster as Jimmy Olsen and Eve Teschmacher. Previously, David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan were confirmed as Clark Kent and Lois Lane, with other stars joining the cast such as Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Maria Gabriela de Faria, and Nicholas Hoult as various characters. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Skyler Gisondo will play the iconic Jimmy Olsen, while Deadline reports that Portuguese model Sara Sampaio will portray Eve Teschmacher.
Jimmy Olsen, a photojournalist at The Daily Planet, was created by Jerry Siegel, Joe Shuster, and Bob Maxwell, and first appeared in Action Comics #6 in 1938. He has featured in numerous Superman adaptations, including the Christopher Reeve and Brandon Routh films. Eve Teschmacher, on the other hand, was introduced outside the comic book pages by Richard Donner and Mario Puzo. First appearing in 1978’s Superman as Lex Luthor’s assistant, she has since been included in various comic book titles as well as other film and television adaptations. It is presumed that Jimmy Olsen’s presence in the film will be significant, given the story’s focus on The Daily Planet and the relationship between Lois and Clark. Teschmacher’s involvement, however, may come as a surprise to some.
