- Marvel fans are advocating for Alan Ritchson to replace Steven Yeun as Sentry in the MCU movie Thunderbolts.
- Ritchson’s performance as Jack Reacher in Amazon’s Reacher series makes him a strong candidate for comic book movie roles.
- Although open to joining the MCU, Ritchson has expressed his desire to portray Batman in the DCU.
After actor Steven Yeun had to step down from the upcoming MCU movie, Thunderbolts, Marvel fans have been voicing their desire for Alan Ritchson to take over the role of Sentry. Yeun was rumored to play the part in Thunderbolts, and fans on social media are now pushing for Ritchson to step in as his replacement.
Ritchson’s impressive portrayal of Jack Reacher in Amazon’s Reacher series has made him a popular candidate for various comic book movie roles. Many Marvel fans are excited about the prospect of him joining Thunderbolts after Yeun’s departure.
Yeun confirmed that he had to leave Thunderbolts due to scheduling conflicts but remains open to joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future. He stated, “I think for me, time passing and things shifting kind of pulled me out of it. But Jake [Schreier], I know, is going to do an incredible job. I wanna do a Marvel movie.” He added, “It took a lot of drafts on email to make sure that I conveyed the sincerity of how sorry I was to have to back out.”
While many MCU fans would love to see Ritchson take on the role of Sentry, the actor himself has expressed his interest in playing Batman in the DCU. He said, “With all the rumors flying that I’m supposed to be playing Batman, how can I knock Batman? I would love to play Batman.” Ritchson has previous experience in DC adaptations, having played Aquaman in several episodes of Smallville and Hawk in the HBO Max series Titans. His experience and acting abilities make him a strong candidate for roles across both the MCU and DCU.
Currently, Ritchson can be seen in the second season of Reacher, where he reprises his role as Jack Reacher. The show, based on the novel Bad Luck and Trouble, sees Reacher seeking revenge after members of his old military unit begin turning up dead. Both seasons of Reacher have received positive reviews, with many praising Ritchson’s lead performance and the show’s overall adaptation. Both seasons are available for streaming on Prime Video.
