- Returning screenwriter Derek Kolstad teases the opening sequence of the second movie.
Connie Nielsen has confirmed that a sequel to the 2021 action movie hit, Nobody, is happening, and shares her enthusiasm for returning to work alongside Bob Odenkirk’s character, Hutch Mansell, and his family. In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Nielsen, who plays Hutch’s wife Becca, praised Odenkirk, saying, “Who doesn’t love Bob? Bob is just so cool and fun and sweet, and he has unbelievable energy. I adore him.” She also mentioned her love for portraying the familial dynamics, expressing her excitement for continuing the story in the sequel.
Directed by Ilya Naishuller and written by John Wick’s Derek Kolstad, Nobody features Odenkirk as Hutch Mansell, a seemingly mild-mannered man whose life changes after two thieves break into his home. As his long-simmering rage is awakened, Hutch embarks on a brutal journey, uncovering dark secrets and lethal skills. Also starring Aleksei Serebryakov, RZA, Michael Ironside, and Christopher Lloyd, the film was well-received by audiences and critics alike.
Derek Kolstad, who is returning to write Nobody 2, has previously hinted at the opening sequence of the sequel. Although it is unclear if the second installment will pick up directly after the first movie’s ending, Kolstad mentioned that the opening scene will evoke laughter. “And we’re all just chuckling and cackling when you see this thing because it’s in line with that (first movie’s opening scene). And I always want to begin that way,” he said.
Currently, Nielsen is involved in another action project, Role Play, starring Kaley Cuoco, David Oyelowo, and Bill Nighy. The film follows a wife and mother who is secretly an assassin for hire. Role Play is scheduled for release on Prime Video on January 12, 2024.
