- Gareth Edwards and John David Washington share exclusive behind-the-scenes look at The Creator.
In an exclusive clip from the sci-fi film The Creator, writer, director, and producer Gareth Edwards takes the audience behind the scenes alongside the main protagonist, John David Washington. Washington, the son of Hollywood legend Denzel Washington, is showcased with humor as he says, “This is the worst experience of my life.” He continues, “I can’t wait to go home,” even though, in reality, he was greatly enjoying his time on set. The exclusive clip can be viewed before the film’s release on digital, 4K Ultra HD, and Blu-ray platforms.
The Creator is set amid a future war between humanity and artificial intelligence. Washington stars as Joshua, a grieving ex-special forces agent tasked with eliminating the Creator, the enigmatic architect of advanced AI. The weapon the protagonist plans on using happens to be in the form of a young child, resulting in a thrilling sci-fi action film. The film was directed by Gareth Edwards, who also directed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Chris Weitz.
Washington described his collaboration with Edwards as “one of the best experiences” of his acting career. The actor praises Edwards for his filmmaking process, the comradery and commitment of the crew assembled, and for bringing the sci-fi story to the big screen. The Creator is set to release just in time for the holidays, despite only receiving a “B+” CinemaScore during its theatrical run. Washington delivers one of his best performances of his career in The Creator, which is scheduled for a digital release on November 14.
20th Century Studios has announced that Gareth Edwards’ sci-fi adventure will be available on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray before the end of the year. The 4K UHD version of The Creator will feature Dolby Atmos audio, with the primary bonus feature being an hour-long, behind-the-scenes film titled True Love: Making The Creator. The Creator made $102.3 million worldwide in the box office, with $61.7 million of that from overseas. Although Edwards’ vision for The Creator did not resonate with moviegoers in theaters, perhaps its at-home release will attract a larger audience. The Creator can be found on digital platforms such as Apple TV, Fandango/Vudu, and Amazon Prime Video beginning November 14. It will be available on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray starting Tuesday, December 12.
