2. The Interview
The Interview is this hilarious comedy film from 2014, directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. It’s actually their second time working together as directors, the first being This Is the End. The screenplay was written by Dan Sterling, based on a story by Rogen, Goldberg, and Sterling themselves. The movie stars Rogen and James Franco as journalists who end up with the crazy mission of assassinating North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, all because they managed to land an interview with him.
But here’s the crazy thing: in June 2014, the North Korean government actually got super mad about this movie. They threatened to take some serious action against the United States if Columbia Pictures, the film’s distributor, went ahead and released it. Can you believe that?

3. Mac & Devin Go to High School
Mac & Devin Go to High School is a 2012 stoner film that was released directly to DVD in the United States. Directed by Dylan Brown, the movie features rappers Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa as the main characters, along with Mike Epps, Teairra Mari, Andy Milonakis, Luenell, and a guest appearance by Mystikal. The story revolves around two high school students named Devin and Mac. Devin is a geek, while Mac is a laid-back stoner. Mac befriends Devin and introduces him to the world of cannabis. The high school in the film is called “N.Hale,” which is a clever play on the real name of Nate Dogg, Nathaniel Hale, as well as a nod to the act of inhaling.
The film was released on DVD and Blu-ray on July 3, 2012, and it marked the film debut of rapper Wiz Khalifa. The soundtrack for the film was released worldwide in stores on December 13, 2011.
