It’s interesting to note that the Mavericks were not affiliated with any Major League Baseball teams, despite playing in a league with MLB affiliates. This independent team was owned by actor Bing Russell, and the film is directed by his grandsons Chapman Way and Maclain Way.
One of the notable figures in the film is Kurt Russell, Bing Russell’s son, who not only played for the Mavericks but also held the position of vice president. The documentary also introduces us to other Mavericks personalities such as Todd Field, who worked as a batboy, Frank “The Flake” Peters, Joe Garza, Jim Bouton, and Joe Garagiola.
